Ancient Egyptian Religion Report

I think My project turned out really good. My notes were accurate from the book, and they were in my own words.I think I used my class time sort of effectively but some times I would start talking with my friends and get distracted. I finished my notes just on time(due date) so I think thats good. When I put then in order my teacher said that the order was perfect I just needed to use my own words on like 3 cards. I think my first draft was my best work. I had to make some changes which made my real report even better. I did good with timing except editing my report because I lost my guide. I think My creative project shows all of the time and effort I put in to it even though It is small(er than the others.) I think my creative project does add to my essay. It gives it an extra spark. I think all of my work is accurate about my topic. I think the most successful sections of my whole report is the essay, creative project,or my cover. The most hard to make was the creative part. I need to work on less talking during note taking. Here is my report:

Egyptian Religion
By: Marshall Worth

Ancient Egypt was an amazing place where many unique things happened. One of those things was the Egyptians intense religion beliefs. The Egyptians believed in many gods who they couldn’t stop praying to, and an afterlife that was like an Egyptian paradise. The polytheistic Egyptians believed in many gods and prayed to them day-in day-out in fascinating ways.

The Egyptians believed in many gods and many stories about these mythical, the god of air and Tefnut, the goddess of moisture. Shu and Tefnut had two kids: Geb, the god of the earth and Nut, the goddess of the sky. Nut and Geb had four kids: Osiris, Isis, Seth, and Nephthys. Seth was a beast who was half wild-dog, and half donkey. The people of Naquada worshiped him. Osiris and Isis were king and queen of the earth. They ruled for a very long time and were good rulers. Seth was jealous of his brother and he wanted to be the king of the earth. One day Seth got so mad that he killed Osiris!!! Isis found Osiris’ body in the river and put the pieces that Seth had cut up back together. Osiris went down to the underworld and became king of the underworld while Seth stayed on earth and became king of the earth. Before Osiris died, he and Isis had a kid named Horus. Horus was a strong, cunning, falcon god who was worshiped by the people of Nekhen. Horus and Isis fought Seth for the throne and won. The sun god, Ra (who was born many years later) became the most important god of them all. The Egyptians believed that every morning, Ra would ride his “sun boat” starting in the east making the sun rise and ending in the evening in the west making the sun set. At night Ra would go to the underworld and die. The Egyptians would pray and pray and pray for him to come back to life…….. and he always did (The sun rises every morning, right?) Those are just two of the Egyptian’s many myths. The Egyptians’ believed in loads of gods and many myths about them.

The ancient Egyptians respected many animals. The first settlers were very impressed and fascinated by all of the animals in the Nile valley. They believed that the animals had an everlasting spirit in them. They started worshiping the spirits hoping the animals would be good to them in return. They worshiped the spirits they best hunted. They hoped they would make the spirits happy with song and dance and convince the spirit to give them many animals to hunt. They also worshiped dangerous animals like crocodiles hoping the animal would lay off and not hurt them. Hawks and falcons were respected for their swiftness and hunting skills. They worshiped the mongoose because it was very helpful considering its main course was snake. They also worshiped cats because of what they ate for dinner (small rodents.) TheMarshallEgypt.JPGy believed that the beetle represented life. The Egyptians respected and worshiped many important animals. (Important to them at least.)

The Egyptians had an intense belief in an afterlife. In the afterlife you would never die (no wonder they were so excited about it) But to get to this wonderful afterlife you had to pass many tests. You had to know passwords and a lot more information. If you didn’t know all of the answers to the questions your body would get chopped up and that would be the end of you. The main test was “The weighing of the heart” This is when the god Anubis would weigh the dead souls’ heart against the “feather of truth” If the heart was lighter of as heavy as the feather meaning you were good in your life time you would go on to the afterlife of your dreams. But if your heart was heaver than the feather meaning you were a bad person
Your heart would be eaten by “the devourer” a hippo, lion, crocodile beast, it would be the end of you. But before your after life, you had to get ready. Priests would open a mummies mouth with a special shaped stick so the mummies spirit could eat in the afterlife. A dead king’s body would be placed in a boat so the king could sail wherever he pleased in the afterlife. If your were poor and didn’t get all of this luxury in your afterlife than you would hope that you soul would join “The boat of millions” The boat of millions was a gold ship filled with good souls in which Ra (The sun god) would use to cross the sky. The Egyptians had a very strong belief in an afterlife and spent pretty much their whole 1st life getting ready for the afterlife.

As you can see, the Egyptians were VERY religious and were also polytheistic. Egyptian religion is one of the most interesting things in Egypt or in the world. The Egyptians worshiped their gods in very interesting ways and believed very interesting things. Egyptian religion was a fascinating and very unique way of life.
